I've used Franko's maps for diving in Bonaire, Maui, US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Cozumel and the Cayman Islands. They're the best, and while you can often get them when you get to your destination, it's fun to look beforehand and think about where you want to go. And if you're just riding on the dive boat and going wherever it takes you, it's also fun to know where you're going.For Bonaire especially, where you'll be doing lots of shore diving and finding sites on your own, this map is incredibly useful! Every dive site is shown with a sentence or two of info. (Every shore dive site on Bonaire has a yellow painted rock by the road with the name of the site on it, so you'll know when you're there.) It's pretty good for finding your way around the island for other activities too. It has the usual Franko's generous supply of fish ID pics and many other useful tidbits printed in every available space in the sea and in the margins.PS: If you're a diver and like shore diving at all, you'll LOVE Bonaire!ADDENDUM JAN 2013: Per Franko's, there is a brand new version of this map out. The version here, as of 18 Jan 2013, is still the older, July 2008 version. I doubt that much has changed, but I'm going to get the newer version before my trip in May '13, in fact, several copies as I'm going with a group of friends. If Amazon doesn't get the new version I'll order direct (Google is your friend!). Safe diving, DaveADDENDUM MAR 2013: As of 2 Mar 2013 Amazon STILL does not have the new version. I've tried various ways of asking them to get it, or advising that they have the old addition, to no avail. The new edition is available directly from Franko's (frankos maps dot com, only with no spaces and you know what to do with the word "dot") albeit at higher shipping cost if you have Prime. If anyone from Amazon reads this, when can we expect to see the new edition?ADDENDUM JAN 2016: As of now Amazon * * * STILL * * * shows that they're selling the 2008 edition. This may or may not be the case. If it is, shame on them, as there's been a new edition for a couple of years. If it is not, shame on them for not updating the description on this page. Franko's maps are available directly from them - as I said above, Google is your friend.
When we traveled to other islands, we always got the Map Chick "Can Do" maps. They were great. Easily read with lots of good information. I was hoping Franko's would be comparable, but they aren't. The text is very small and poorly set, making it hard read. The actually maps are also small, again making it difficult to make out anything but the largest details.We have been to the island many times and been royally lost, both in Kralendijk and the more rural parts. This map won't be much help. It is simply too much stuff in too small a space. If the paper were made bigger and/or some information deleted, it would be much more valuable.
This pamphlet is for people going to Bonaire with a special interest in diving, driving around the island or traveling by bike.It lists many Dive sites and Scuba Sites,Snorkel Sites and Beaches. It has great photos in color of the local fish. It also has 4 detailed maps.The pamphlet also has a "Photo Tour of Bonaire" with 20 photos.
Good map to help get some perspective of the island. Not the best for navigation but it works well enough. We used this map in addition to the book that is sold on the Island. We were glad to have both.
Great map gives blurbs of each dive site. Use this in conguntion with Shore Diving Guide to Bonaire which is not sold on Amazon but at dive shops all over the island. Map is very useful.
Every diver needs one of these. Waterproof and chucked full if information. Water temps, dive sites and a little info about each site.
We've used these maps on Kaua'i and St. John. They have been extremely helpful. We're now using them to help decide where we want to go next.
This is a good map of Bonaire, very detailed. We used it every day on our most recent vacation there. Very durable and waterproof.
