In one concise book, I've found the answers I've been looking for. Most of the grammatical and other info out there is conflicting. Somehow in my gut, I knew it was wrong. There is so much I never learned and trying to play catch up at this stage of life is a bit daunting to say the least. I feel like I now have a fighting chance to get a handle on the errors that may be holding be back. You have to have more than a way with words and a good story to make anything happen in the publishing world. Even then, only a handful ever make it. A complete guide, but summarized at the same time. Useful to remember and apply the basic grammar rules. It is very well explained, concise, and excellent to keep near while blogging or writing.What I like most about this book is that it applies many of The Chicago Manual of Style guidelines, and for this reason, I recommend it to whoever wants to improve his/her grammar, high-school students, and wannabe writers.
In seconds, just thumbing through this work I finally found out how to use correct punctuation with quotation marks… A totally essential reference work that makes it easy for a grammatically incapacitated writer, like myself to become savvy in the craft.

Who reads the introduction? Usually I don't, but I read this one and hooted. This lady has a sense of humor!Later someone caught me actually READING the entire book, every paragraph--not just using the book as a reference. He laughed, "You're actually READING that? Who reads books like that?" Well, I must admit I was surprised myself, but it was fascinating as well as helpful. And the author snuck in chuckles in the most unexpected places.Certainly if you are serious about writing, or if you are intrigued by correct language usage, or even if you are just looking for a well-written reference book infused with gentle humor, buy this book!
You don't have to be writing a novel to benefit from this book. Kathy Ide has assembled an excellent standalone reference that will enable you to improve your writing.
