About the Author

This brief book chronicles the events leading up to the Boston Marathon bombing up through the sentencing of Dzhokar. Creatively written, this informative book will engage readers. Each chapter contains a variety of perspectives from the people affected along the path of this terrorist attack. Some come from the perspective of the Boston Marathon event planner, the mayor, police officers, victims, bystanders, and even the terrorists themselves, to name a few.The book is well written and the writing is crisp. Blake Hoena has delivered accurate and detailed information. However, he has also told this story with care and sensitivity and readers will be informed without being traumatized. In addition to the great writing is the visual appeal. Graphics separate and introduce the new perspectives from which it is being told. There are also many photographs of the people affected, events, and the destruction that enhance the text. The book concludes with a timeline, a glossary, critical thinking questions, further information, a selected bibliography, and an index. This is an excellent book, creatively written, and highly recommended.Recommendation: This book is highly recommended for any elementary or middle school library.
